Template:Infobox event The Moon Tribe Cataclysm was the mysterious catastrophe that wiped out the entire Moon Tribe. Only four members were known to survive the cataclysm.

History

The Moon is the home of the Moon Tribe. The Moon Tribe is highly advanced in technology and has very long lifespan, with the average of about 200 years. Prior to the Moon Tribe Cataclysm, they constructed the Ark of Yamato as a vessel to contain Yami and his almost endless legion of Demons. Later, Yami and his demonic army somehow managed to break free from the imprisonment of the Ark of Yamato. As soon as this legion had gained freedom, they spread out and massacred the Moon Tribe in a manner somewhat similar to the Ark of Yamato Genocide. None of the Tribe's members survived but three members: Waka (who fled to the Celestial Plain in, ironically, the Ark itself), Kaguya (who took refuge within her rocket in the Sasa Sanctuary) and Sugawara (who later became a politician, but died and his vengeful spirit turned into King Fury). After that, the Moon is left deserted, with no lifeform thriving on.

Trivia

Strangely, when the Moon Tribe Cataclysm occurred, Kaguya was, of course, just a baby. However, both Ishaku and Mr.Bamboo witnessed the touchdown of Kaguya's rocket in Sasa Sanctuary, which was obviously a long time after the occurence of the Cataclysm, as Mr.Bamboo wouldn't be able to live until the event of Ōkami if he was already an old man during the occurence of the Cataclysm.
However, there is a theory that serves as an explanation for this. It could have been that Kaguya's rocket was actually drifting in space for a long time before coming into touchdown in Sasa Sanctuary and being found by Mr.Bamboo. Also, in this theory, Kaguya was put in a somewhat hibernation-esque status so that she was exactly like what she was when she left the Moon.
Oddly, Waka fled the Moon in the Ark of Yamato, but he was mysteriously not attacked by the demon army on board. Details of this are unknown.
