Chi is one of the Eight Canine Warriors (now the Kusa Five) and is a Karmic Transformer, one of the two automatically unlocked in a New Game+. Chi has pinkish-white fur and fights Amaterasu in the optional battle for Stray Bead #35.

History[]

Ōkami[]

Prior to Amaterasu's visit to Kusa Village, Chi temporarily separated from the rest of the Canine Warriors to pursue her own needs. When Amaterasu is tasked by Princess Fuse to locate the warriors within the village, she finds Chi within a large bamboo tree next to Mr. Bamboo's house. Upon being fed, Chi hastily made her way back to Fuse in order to join the rest of the warriors. Upon the return of the Satomi Power Orbs, Chi's orb was given to Amaterasu in order to assist her in defeating Crimson Helm, who was occupying the Gale Shrine.

After Crimson Helm's defeat, Fuse began training the remaining Canine Warriors in the art of battle. Eventually, Chi and the other warriors became known as the Kusa 5, tasked with protecting Taka Pass and the surrounding areas from demons. Amaterasu was able to challenge Chi and the rest of the Kusa 5 in an exhibition match.

Ōkamiden[]

While Chi is not a major character in the plot, she and the other members of the Kusa 5 appear in the Playhouse after the defeat of Renjishi.

Combat[]

After defeating Ninetails, Amaterasu can challenge the Canine Warriors, renamed Kusa 5, at the Gale Shrine for Stray Bead #35. Chi appears with Rei, Shin, Ko, and Tei, sharing the same attacks. When the battle starts, Amaterasu can immediately approach her and begins her assault with farming techniques. After the farming procedures are completed, Amaterasu has to focus on offense while simultaneously defending from the attacks of the other Canine Warriors. When Chi jumps into the air and perform a somersault before landing, her Knowledge Orb glowing, Amaterasu has to run to a certain distance, wait for Chi to lunge at her, and when she has covered half the distance between her original position and Amaterasu's, execute a Sub-Reflector Counterattack to gain a Demon Fang and defend from the attack. Other attacks of the Canine Warrior includes a series of multiple lunge and bites, a hole-digging attack, and a land mine attack. When sufficient damage is dealt, Chi will be stunned, a chance for Amaterasu to deal further damage.

Trivia[]

  • Chi is a Japanese Spitz, a type of companion dog.
  • Chi has the squeakiest voice amongst the Canine Warriors, possibly due to her being the only female member.
