Capcom is an Ōsaka-based Japanese developer and publisher of video games,[5] known for creating multi-million-selling franchises such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Mega Man.[6] Originally established in 1983, it has since become an international enterprise with branches and subsidiaries in North America, Europe, and East Asia.[7]

Clover Studio

Main article: Clover Studio

Clover Studio was one of the many subsidiary production companies funded by Capcom. The studio was founded in 2004 and was responsible for the creation of several Capcom franchises, including Ōkami. Capcom dissolved Clover in 2007 and retained all the company's intellectual properties, allowing them to produce sequels to many of Clover Studio's games. Although Clover Studio no longer exists, many important members moved on to found Seeds Inc., now called Platinum Games. In 2009 Capcom announced a sequel to Ōkami titled Ōkamiden: Chiisaki Taiyō.
